Joost van der Wiel

Joost van der WielJoost van der Wiel graduated at the University of Lincoln (UK) in 2007 and Willem de Kooning Academy of Arts (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) in 2010. Recently he won the Drempelprijs 2010. He won the Rotterdam Media Fund Pitch Prize in 2009, the Martin Lambie-Nairn Award for Oustanding Achievement in 2007 and the SintLucas Graduation Award for Audiovisual Design in 2006. Joost is currently doing research for his next documentary projects.

Luc van Kemenade

Luc van KemenadeLuc van Kemenade is a freelance journalist. Recently he worked for weekly magazine Elsevier and the website elsevier.nl. He finished his bachelor (BA) degree in History at Utrecht University (2006) and his masters degree (MA) in Journalism (2008) at the University of Groningen. After that, he moved to Addis Ababa to work as a journalist in Ethiopia for several months. He published articles in monthly magazine Onze Wereld, news paper Brabants Centrum and on his website lucvankemenade.nl (in Dutch).

Daphne Kuilman

Daphne KuilmanDaphne Kuilman graduated in 2010 as a photographer from the Art Academy of Utrecht. She is a portrait photographer and focuses on human behaviour and emotion. She lived and traveled in Ethiopia, where she completed the project Rebue (Wednesday): portraits of Ethiopian Pentecostals praying in their living room. Currently she is working on a project about the emotional value of belongings in our western society. Her pictures were published in monthly magazine Onze Wereld, news paper Brabants Centrum and GroenLinks Magazine. Mikael Ayele
Mikael lives and works in Addis Ababa. At the moment he is working for a consultancy agency, but Mikael has bigger plans. Don't be surprised to see a delicious Ethiopian wine made by his hands in stores within a couple of years. Even though his introduction to the film crew was a coincidence, Mikael proved to be a priceless addition to the team. Mikael doesn't know Addis - He ís Addis.

Music / Composers
Hapslik Muziek - Jorge San Martin & Mattijs de Regt
Hapslik Muziek stands for musical masterminds Mattijs de Regt and Jorge San Martin. They produce music for film and commercials. They compose orchestral music as well as modern genres. In October 2009 both Mattijs and Jorge graduated in Sound Education at the Hogeschool Utrecht.

Daria Zebrowska
Daria ZebrowskaDaria Zebrowska lives in Addis Ababa and describes herself as 'Ethio-freak and concious consumer from Poland'. She works for the local NGO Our Father's Kitchen and the Polish Embassy. She graduated from Ethiopian Studies at Warsaw University.

Maarten Goossens works as a producer for the independent production company Pilarczyk Mediagroep. There, he is responsible for the production of the television programmes Gek op Wielen, RTL Autowereld and Wielerland. Maarten finished his masters degree (MA) in Film and Television Studies (2006) at Utrecht University. In 2006 he worked at the Dutch Film Festival and for the website of television programme Cinema.nl.

Research / character profiles
Blen Mandefro
Blen Mandefro is a designer and a graduation student of the Addis Ababa School of Journalism and Communication (MA). She owns a fashion design house and makes Ethiopian and European style cloths. After her graduation she wants to work in the Ethiopian media and make a movie.
